Happy game day, everyone. Before this season started, it certainly seemed as though one of these teams in the LSU-Texas A&M game would be playing with a lot on the line. The Aggies, after all, started No. 6 in the preseason polls and were pegged as a dark horse College Football Playoff contender. Three months later, my how the tables have turned. It's LSU with everything at stake going into Saturday's game (6 p.m., ESPN) at Kyle Field in College Station. It's the Aggies (4-7) in the role of spoiler just playing out the string ... and maybe eagerly waiting for the clock to run out. For LSU, here's what's on the line: Continued prime contention for a CFP spot (the Tigers enter the game ranked No. 5).A 10-win regular season for just the second time in the past decade (the other was of course 2019).A virtually certain spot in one of the three available non-CFP semifinal New Year's Six bowls: the Sugar, Cotton or Orange. It's been a great season for LSU so far, but as I wrote in my column, the world the Tigers have created is not enough. It's time LSU to get greedy, which means not giving Texas A&M even a sliver of redemption from its wreck of a season. When the game ends (or maybe before), Texas A&M is expected to face a serious exodus in the transfer portal. But it's not only the Aggies who have to be concerned. The unchecked nature of the transfer portal affects everyone, Wilson Alexander writes, even a contender like LSU. Who ya got winning in this one? Have you got LSU winning, covering, or both? Our staff — myself, Wilson, Leah Vann and Sheldon Mickles — weigh in with our picks here. Speaking of covering, our resident sports betting czar Zach Ewing takes us inside the line on the Tigers-Aggies matchup. Leah has you covered on the Aggies and this game. Sheldon gives you his take on the SEC pecking order with his final power rankings of the regular season. Spoiler alert: I suspect the Tigers and Aggies are at opposite ends of the list. And, finally, the LSU women's basketball team looks to run its record to 7-0 with a win over UAB in the Goombay Splash Tournament in Bimini, The Bahamas. The Tigers won their first game in the Bahamas on Thursday over George Mason, 80-52. Thank you for subscribing to our LSU newsletter.
