Dear John Do,
Winds blow stronger and more consistently in higher altitudes. “Airborne wind power has the potential to become the cheapest source of energy in future,” said Mark Hoppe, Vice President of Public Affairs and Business Development at Skysails Power. The Hamburg-based cleantech company uses large kites that generate electricity in high-altitude winds. In our latest Future Hamburg Talk, Hoppe explains how this differs from conventional wind turbines and where the journey is heading.

In other news, the Hamburg Aviation cluster presents the Crystal Cabin Awards, Hamburg's GDP exceeded the national average in 2024, and the University of Hamburg launches a new job model to attract and retain academics.

Sincerely,
Hamburg News Editors
