As we embark on the 2019 golf season, I wanted to cover a few topics that will be new to you this season.
As our course renovation nears completion, and the grow-in of new grass starts, we will continue to use the Creek and Ridge. Please check with the golf shop on course rotations and cart restrictions each day.
We will do our best to use the lower driving range tee as weather allows. If it gets too wet, we will move back to the top and hit off mats. When not in use for hitting balls, the upper driving range has 3 target greens that will serve as our practice chipping and putting greens until our new facilities are open. Once the new facilities are open the upper range will serve as a short game wedge practice facility.
We will continue to use the east side of the lower range to hit balls, however the west tee will be available. Once completed, the west end of the driving range will have the addition of a short game chipping green and bunker. The bunker is original from previous years, but we have now added a green on the opposite side of the bunker, making it multi-usable for hitting green-side bunker shots or turning around and working on your fairway bunker shots. Upon completion of this green, we will have hitting stations set up on the west range tee so you are able to work from one location on all of your clubs. You will see a cut-through path just east of Vale 1 green that will guide you back to the west end of the driving range.
We kindly ask as we go through the grow-in process on the Vale greens, putting green, and chipping green, that you stay off of these areas as foot traffic will lead to unhealthy turf and a slower grown-in. Please check with the golf shop if you have any questions on these great additions.
Another big change for 2019 is the updated USGA rules of golf. Please see the attached flyers that briefly cover the new rules. A big rule change you will see is the stroke & distance rule implemented for everyday non-competition rounds. This is something we want to put in place for any rounds that you and your group are enjoying. We will not implement this rule during tournaments. With the new rule, you can still take stroke-and-distance relief, but you now have the additional option that comes with a penalty of two strokes (please see Stroke & Distance attachment). This rule should help with pace of play.
Do not forget to sign up for annual carts, bag storage, locker rental and handicaps next time you are at the club.
