Gary's Notes: Got through the entire session this time with no tears. She was, overall, about 20% improved from last time. Nausea was still apparent, although the low level lasted for 2 or 3 days. The “intense sadness cloud” fell from a persistent 10 to, generally, around a 7. We discussed the logic of her one “I hate you” comment causing her daughter’s drug behavior/death. She agreed it wasn’t logical. We then discussed more foundational issues back to childhood and her mother’s physical, emotional and sexual abuse. She was terrified at her mother’s behavior and grief stricken because her mother didn’t love her. The connection between her mother’s anger outburst and Nancy’s current grief appeared to be that she was afraid she was like her mother and that contributed to Rachel’s death (emotional, not logical, response). “I am like my mother” went from 8 to 5 (after some EFT Tapping). She had some charge on “I feel so guilty because I said I hate you” but it went down to a 1 or 2. We dealt with “the strap” Specific Event and got it down to 0-2. After that, other Specific Events didn’t seem to have any charge.
For next time, I asked her to revisit mother specific events to see if she can find any with charges. Also, she is going to visit with Rachel’s friend, Courtney, today and will let me know if she has any “Courtney responses” that are worth addressing next time.
