אַ פֿריילעכן חנוכּה / Happy Hanukkah! This is the season for latkes and pontshkes (doughnuts), and if you need recipes, the Forward has you covered. Over the years we’ve published dozens of latke recipes, including the definitive originals as well as versions with spinach, rutabagas, celery root, and more.

Of course I recommend everyone learn some Yiddish while you make this year’s latkes. As the Yiddish editor of the Forward, my job is to continue supporting the language the language that's such an important part of our history and helping more Jewish Americans know and appreciate it — including my grandson, Leyzer, who I teach how to make latkes in Yiddish in this video!
