Get Lit - Words Ignite

Friday, May 8

Get Lit – this little Los Angeles based non profit pivoted on a dime in the midst of  this Covid19 pandemic so that these Los Angeles High School kids who’ve practiced for this all year could still compete in the largest youth poetry competition in the country!  Many from inner city schools. The Finalists for this weekend include: Larchmont Charter HS, Harvard Westlake, Venice High and SCVI Charter School.

The Words Ignite Slam will be on line – Friday, May 8, 7pm at ClassicSlam.org

WHAT IS GET LIT – WORDS IGNITE?

Get Lit – Words Ignite fuses classic and spoken word poetry to increase teen literacy on the page and in visual media. We cultivate enthusiastic learners emboldened to inspire social consciousness in diverse communities. Get Lit’s poetry and film curriculum engages young people by providing a creative outlet, community, and real-life work experience, transforming students into artists, activists, scholars, and stars.
