In the 2022 OPPS proposed rule, CMS proposes to reverse course on eliminating the inpatient-only (IPO) list along with adding back the 298 procedures removed from the list on January 1. CMS also plans to add a new regulation codifying the five sub-regulatory criteria they have used previously to evaluate removing procedures from the inpatient only list.
