Free project: Line of color enameled earrings

Looking to add the timeless technique of classic cloisonné to your enameling repertoire? Cloisonné enamel is a technique that uses thin silver or gold wires to create partitions that form cells. These cells allow the jewelry maker to create intricate designs with precisely delineated areas of color.

 

The November & December Design Challenge

In honor of our sister publication Bead&Button magazine’s 25th anniversary, we are celebrating with a silver theme! What color will your silver lining be? Will it be silver, argentium, zinc, nickel silver, or tin? Shades of stormy grey or misty clouds? And don't feel like it needs to be beadwork. Jewelry made from actual silver, silver wire, silver-colored clay or resin, or any oth er artistic interpretation is welcome as well! Free Video: Use table salt to texture enamel

Who knew that plain old table salt could create such a beautiful texture on enamel? In this video, teacher and designer Steven James shows you how it works, using a simple hand-held torch.
