However, how can the forest be artistically represented, especially in times when it is directly threatened by destruction, using formal means? Frank Mädler employs photographic techniques such as focus and blur, but also intervenes in the photographic material through methods like overlays, additions, and scratches. His ceramic sculptures titled "Doppeltierhälften" expand the artistic exploration of the forest into the exhibition space. | | | | | | Frank Mädler Deckung, 2023 Analogue C-Print 155.5 x 115 cm Edition of 3 + 1 AP | | | | Frank Mädler (1963, Torgelow, Germany) studied photography at the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig, the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, and the Universidad Castilla-La Mancha, Cuenca. He was a master student under Astrid Klein. Since 2000, he has worked as a freelance artist in Leipzig. Frank Mädler has been honored with numerous awards, including the Villa Massimo Fellowship in Rome in 2004, the Working Grant from the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony in 2007, and the artist residency Al Lado in Lima, Peru, in 2017.
