Meanwhile, researchers at the U.S.'s most advanced military agency have designed a coronavirus test that can identify people before they become infectious, according to a new report. Described as a potential "game-changer," the test came from a project at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and was initially designed for diagnosing those who have become poisoned by germ or chemical warfare. America's slow road to reopening continued Monday as more than a dozen states eased strict lockdown measures on businesses and social activities put in place to curb the spread of the virulent coronavirus. Several states believe they have “flattened the curve” of infections enough to phase their economies open after more than a month of shuttered stores, restaurants, and citizens hunkered down at home. On Sunday, President Trump told a Fox News virtual town hall that he believes a vaccine for coronavirus will be developed by year’s end, but a global health expert had a more sobering outlook. Dr. David Nabarro, a special envoy to the World Health Organization on the coronavirus, said in an interview Sunday that the global economy may have to assume that there will not be a vaccine and consider ways to approach the virus as a “constant threat.” Europe’s top coronavirus hot spots are preparing to lift lockdown measures after seeing the biggest dip in new confirmed cases and deaths in weeks. Italy, Spain and France have all recorded their lowest daily spike in fatalities to date.
