EU court rules pre-checked cookie consent is not legally valid

The Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) ruled this week that pre-checked consent boxes for the use of cookies are not valid. CJEU’s ruling comes as part of a case against the lottery website, Planet49, which asked users to give consent for cookies in order for them to play a promotional game (bundling cookie consent with another purpose).
