Eliezer Tauber was the founder and first chair of the Department of Middle Eastern Studies at Bar Ilan University as well as the former dean of its faculty of Jewish Studies. The Middle East Quarterly called his two volumes on the emergence of Arab nationalist movements "one of the most important historical studies of the Middle East published in years." He received his BA and MA from Bar Ilan University.
