Cynthia Farahat is an Egyptian specialist on Islamism and an MEF writing fellow. She has a degree in journalism from Egypt’s Modern Science and Arts University. Her work has appeared in various publications including the Middle East Quarterly and National Review. Her book on the Muslim Brotherhood, with the working title “The Secret Apparatus,” will be published by Bombardier Books.

Eric Bordenkircher, author of a recent Middle East Quarterly article on this topic, is a research fellow at UCLA. Previously, he taught at Claremont McKenna College and Pepperdine University. His work has appeared in the Jerusalem PostWashington Examiner, and National Interest. He has a B.A. in history from Boston College, an M.A. from McGill University, and a Ph.D. from UCLA in Islamic studies.
