As a UK Muslim of Pakistani origins, Kasim Hafeez grew up exposed to Islamism and became a convinced radical. A trip to Pakistan, however, cured him of this belief system. Looking back, he explains how Islamists successfully present their ideology and specifically the role of antisemitism and anti-Zionism. He draws lessons from his own disillusionment and explains how he became an advocate for Israel.

He is the executive director of the Middle East Center for Reporting and Analysis (MECRA) and a writing fellow at the Middle East Forum. He has worked as oped editor at The Jerusalem Post and assistant professor at Al-Quds University. Seth Frantzman is the author of After ISIS: America, Iran and the Struggle for the Middle East. His new book, Drone Wars, will be published in 2021.His work has appeared in The National Interest, The Spectator, National Review, and The Moscow Times. He was born in Maine, has a BA from the University of Arizona, and a PhD from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
