Hello hello! What a week. In the last few days, I’ve been to Egypt, Chile, Australia, Singapore, Ibiza, New England, France and Japan. And I have the blisters to prove it. That’s right, it’s the less glamorous side of working in travel, where you pace around a conference centre, setting up meetings, scanning QR codes and trying to hunt down unusual stories for the year ahead. Not that I’m complaining. It’s a wonderful way to fill up my wish list for the future. Speaking of futures... Don't miss the chance to enter our travel writing competition. Want to see your work in print? The theme for this year’s competition is A hasty exit. You are invited to submit an original piece of writing of between 600 and 800 words which either includes this phrase or clearly touches on the theme. The piece must be a true story, based on your personal experience and written as a first-hand account. The prize is a 4-night break to Pas-de-Calais in northern France, courtesy of Pas-de-Calais Tourisme. The winner will also receive a paid commission to write about their trip for Traveller magazine. The two runners-up will receive three Bradt guides of their choice. All the shortlisted pieces will be published on the Bradt website. So, feeling creative?
