Festivals return to Minnesota

We'll see highs in the 70s and 80s this weekend. There could be some scattered showers and an isolated thunderstorm on Saturday, mainly in west-central and southern Minnesota. One forecast model also shows a Saturday shower chance in the Twin Cities metro area. Find the latest on Updraft.

The attorney for the family of a man who was killed when his car was hit by a Minneapolis Police Department squad car during a chase says they will file a lawsuit against the city.

Leneal Frazier was killed early Tuesday when his car was hit by a squad car driven by an MPD officer at the intersection of Lyndale and 41st Avenues North. Frazier died shortly after the crash at North Memorial Health hospital. He was 40.
Jeff Storms is the attorney for the family. He says he plans to pursue a civil suit against the city, but he says he'd also like to see the matter investigated criminally.

Minnesota’s new COVID-19 case counts have now risen for the last six reporting days in a row.

The increases in COVID-19 case counts have been fairly small. Today the state reported 105 new cases of the virus. Five more people are reported to have died from the disease.

Minnesota lawmaker stopped by police claims he was profiled

A Minnesota lawmaker who was ticketed for a driver’s license violation is alleging he was racially profiled. The citation said state Rep. John Thompson, a Democrat from St. Paul who is Black, presented a Wisconsin driver’s license during a traffic stop in St. Paul over the weekend, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reported.
