Foodwise Volunteers and Interns Make an Impact Beyond the Farmers Market | At Foodwise, 2023 marks the 30th year of bringing the Bay Area community together through farmers markets and food education programs. This continued work is made possible through the generous support of hundreds of volunteers and interns, many of whom go on to pursue careers in food access and education. We got in touch with a few past volunteers and interns and asked them to share their stories of seeds planted during their experiences with Foodwise and how they are continuing to make a positive impact in our food community today. "I think a lot of my interest in food comes through Foodwise. I started volunteering with CUESA, now Foodwise, when I was 9." says Jacob Bindman, founder of SF New Deal. "I grew up spending a lot of time at the farmers market, meeting chefs, meeting farmers, having an opportunity to be really immersed in that landscape. Through relationships I made, I worked at a bunch of restaurants in the city and became really excited about the sense of community that was built around people working on our food system." | |
| Thank You for a Bountiful Start to 2023! We're Just $2K Away from Our Goal | Thank you to everyone who donated to Foodwise in support of healthy farms, families, and communities! With your generous contributions, we raised $57,985 for Foodwise farmers markets, food access initiatives, and education programs. If you did not have a chance to donate, you still can help get us to our $60,000 goal. | |
| Meet Our Team: Jasmine Chastine | Meet one of the newest members of our team, Jasmine Chastine, our Foodwise Teens Education Manager. "Teens are just as passionate about and interested in learning about food as adults are," says Jasmine. The program is "a perfect blend for me to work with youth, learn about the local food community, and utilize my gardening skills." | |
