The difference between food allergies and intolerances

With a food allergy, the body overreacts to a specific food as if it were a threat. This causes a release of histamine, which causes many allergic symptoms, such as itching, swelling, hives and difficulty breathing. At the same time, the symptoms of food intolerance are typically gastrointestinal.
