On Saturday May 23rd, the Fondazione Sozzani reopens with the exhibition “Antonio Lopez, drawings and photographs”.

The exhibition “Antonio Lopez, drawings and photographs”, curated by Anne Morin, director of diChroma Photography, Madrid, in collaboration with The Estate and Archive of Antonio Lopez and Juan Ramos, New York, the Anna Piaggi Cultural Association, and the Ottavio and Rosita Missoni Foundation, due to the Covid-19 emergency, was extended until September 6th 2020.

This exhibition will bring together over two hundred original drawings, Kodak Instamatics, photographic grids, collages, diaries and films, that develop distinct thematic sections and document Antonio’s creative process, his visionary attitude, and the historical period in which he lived.

In the intimacy of his studio during confinement, Kris Ruhs takes his quarantine into a dynamic new relationship with his artistic process through the discipline of a single drawing a day. Far more than physical bondage, the artist is forced to endure through the limits of one single flat surface, the quarantine he himself is also experiencing physically.

On view at the Bookstore a new selection of 24 photographs from the collection of Fondazione Sozzani on the theme of Nature, by contemporary and historical photographers as Vittoria Backhaus (Milan, 1942), Tom Baril (Connecticut,1952), Karl Blossfeldt (Schielo,1865-Berlin,1932), Daniel Gustav Cramer (Neuss, 1975), Frauke Eigen (Aurich, 1969), Ernst Furhmann (Wien,1918-Teufenbach, 1995), and Sheila Metzner (New York, 1939).

The Fondazione Sozzani was established in 2016 by Carla Sozzani and is dedicated to the promotion of culture through photography, fashion, fine and applied arts. The Foundation has assumed the patronage of Galleria Carla Sozzani and continues all relevant public functions that the Galleria has supported for the past 30 years.
