Samsung may have a big surprise in store with its next folding phone
| It turns out that the rumored second Galaxy Z Fold 6 could be a pricier Ultra model, not a budget version | There are whispers that Samsung could be releasing not one but two Galaxy Z Fold 6 models. More specifically, one of them could be a Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra, at least according to a report from WinFuture. If this is the case, it will be the first time that Samsung releases two Z Fold variants at the same time — and the first time we’ve seen an Ultra model in the Z Fold family. Such a move would bring the Z Fold series in line with the S-series, which currently consists of the affordable base model Galaxy S24 and the more expensive Galaxy S24 Ultra. However, what the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra will feature to differentiate it from the base version is still unclear ... | |

Some on Apple’s failed car project apparently had a cruel name for it
| A new report has lifted the lid on Apple's failed effort to build an electric car | Apple reportedly canceled its electric car project earlier this week, ending around a decade of research and development on the ambitious project. While we knew the tech giant had spent billions on its efforts, a New York Times report on Wednesday put a precise figure on it: $10 billion. It’s an astonishing amount of money for a project that will never see the light of day, and even more so when you consider that many of those working on it apparently suspected that the endeavor would come to nothing. Internally, the effort was known as "Project Titan,” but workers who harbored doubts about its ability to succeed reportedly referred to it as “the Titanic disaster,” according to former members of Apple’s car project who spoke to the Times ... | |

The White House just warned against using these popular programming languages
| The White House has released a new report indicating that using programming languages C and C++ presents a cybersecurity risk | Some of developers’ favorite programming languages cause the biggest security risk for systems that require the utmost safety, according to the White House. The government-sanctioned Office of the National Cyber Director (ONCD) recently released a report recommending that developers use various “memory-safe programming languages.” The list excludes popular languages, such as C and C++, which have been deemed to have flaws in their memory safety that make them security risks. Firms such as Microsoft and Google have connected security vulnerabilities to memory safety issues with their systems. In 2019, Microsoft found that around 70% of security vulnerabilities were caused by memory safety issues. Tom’s Hardware points out that while there are many examples of memory-safe languages, some of them are unpopular with developers ... | |
