Mug Turned Colorful Candle Holder

By Benetta

Mug Turned Colorful Candle Holder - candle burning inside the cupI recently was gifted with a few bottles of Dala glass glaze. Some time ago, I received a white mug that was used as the gift box for a small gift. I wanted to do something with the mug. There was nothing wrong with the mug, except that it was white. I decided to turn the mug into a nifty candle holder using the glaze.

Nail Art to Extend a Manicure

By attosa

Small jewels attached where the manicure color has grown out.Sometimes my manicures stay nice and intact all over, but new nail growth will really take away from its "polished" look. To keep my nails looking fresh, I grab some baby jewels from my local Japanese dollar shop and affix them on top of the new nail growth with a bit of strong, clear polish. Fun and cheap!

Use Crepe Paper For Sewing
Use leftover crepe paper in sewing by placing over thick fabric like fleece or textured material that has a tendency to get caught in the feed dog or presser foot, depending on the type or loft of the material. Just sew right over it and when finished, tear if off.
Use Turmeric as a Dye
The reason mustard stains are so hard to get out is that there is turmeric in them! It is a spice, but it can also be used as a cheap and simple dye. If you like the golden yellow orange of the spice, this might work for you.

This Week's Questions
Repairing a Broken Bobbin Case for a Pfaff Machine
The spring that holds the little lever on the bobbin popped out. I have no idea how to reassemble this. My machine is a Pfaff German model Varimatic 6091 purchased in 1999.
Brother CS6000i Won't Sew
I recently moved and packed up my Brother sewing machine in a shipping box. I unpacked it and everything was fine, but I stored it away in the closet for a year. Now when I go to press the foot pedal I just hear a loud humming, but the needle does not move up and down. I have tried moving the handwheel back and forth.
Uses for Worn Towels with Frayed Edges
Many of my smaller towels have edges that are frayed and old. What should I do with them? They are still useful, but not pretty.
