| A Message from the Florida League The word unprecedented has taken on new meaning in the past month; in fact, it no longer seems strong enough to describe the situation our country is enduring right now. We understand that most of you are feeling the same way. With strong sensitivity to the current situation, the Florida League remains hopeful that the crack of wood bats will be heard once again this summer in Central Florida. We are monitoring daily updates from federal and state officials. Specifically, we are paying close attention to the forthcoming guidelines about how different states will begin emerging from lockdown. Since our last update, we have engaged in weekly conference calls with the National Alliance of College Summer Baseball and Major League Baseball to share ideas and discuss potential paths forward. While there is still much uncertainty about this summer, the Florida League is considering multiple options that will be dictated first and foremost by recommendations from authorities and health officials. Some of these options might include playing games without fans or potentially starting the season as late as July 1st. It remains our goal to provide an opportunity for college baseball players to develop their skills at a time that has never been more important for our players in this leagueâs history. We canât make a decision about a path forward until we understand if we can ensure the safety of our players, umpires, staff and general community. We expect the coming weeks will bring more clarity and as soon as we are able to discern a path forward, we will promptly provide another update.
