Jazz@the CAM La Fiesta Latin Jazz Quintet
January 10, 2019, 6:30 PM - (seats close to being sold out so call now) The series kicks off the new year with a Latin Jazz beat! La Fiesta was formed in 2010 by band leader, saxophonist, clarinetist and composer Gregg Gelb, the quintet includes: Beverly Botsford on percussion, Ramon Ortiz on drums, Jim Crew on piano and Andy Kleindienst on bass. The repertoire of this high energy group is authentic Latin Jazz made famous by renowned musicians that include Tito Puente, Mongo Santamaria, Buena Vista Social Club, and Dizzy Gillespie, plus original tunes by Gelb. La Fiesta's first recording La Fiesta Latin Jazz Quintet was released in September 2016.

Grenoldo Frazier (1953-2018)
CAM mourns the loss of Wilmington native and famed composer, arranger, pianist, and singer, Grenoldo Frazier who passed away during the holidays. Grenoldo was a friend and regular favorite at CAM, and his credits and accolades extend far and wide. His infectious spirit, personality, and talent will be sorely missed. Grenoldo was one of the first musicians selected to perform in the then-new Jazz@the CAM concert series presented in collaboration with the Cape Fear Jazz Society, and became a staple performing nearly every other year of the series. He performed for CAM exhibition openings and special events, and he was the mainstay for the annual concerts celebrating July 4 for the Concerts@CAM series. Whether performing jazz, Broadway and movie music, Independence Day celebratory songs, holiday music and selections of contemporary music done with a twist, Grenoldo was always thoughtful, fresh, innovative, captivating and completely entertaining with his CAM musical themes and shared a wealth of back stories and history with the audience on the songs he performed, the composers and musicians that made them famous.
