First Ave. to buy Fitzgerald Theater from Minnesota Public Radio
First Avenue announced Wednesday that it has agreed to buy the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul from Minnesota Public Radio. First Avenue owner Dayna Frank said the Minneapolis-based operator of music clubs was "excited about the opportunities for more events and performances in another iconic space in this community." Crude pipe bombs sent to Obama, Clintons, CNN; no injuries

Crude pipe bombs targeting Hillary Clinton, former President Barack Obama, CNN and others were intercepted Tuesday night and Wednesday in a rash of attacks aimed at prominent Democrats and a cable news network often criticized by political conservatives. A similar device was found Monday at the New York compound of liberal billionaire George Soros, a major contributor to Democratic causes.

Poet Tony Hoagland has died at age 64. Hoagland was known for writing poetry that was beautiful but also critical of American culture and consumerism. His collection "What Narcissism Means to Me" was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award.

Vatican target of lawsuit over child sexual abuse by priests

St. Paul Attorney Jeff Anderson is suing the Vatican. He says the suit — filed in federal court in California — targets the Vatican because it has been at the root of the widespread sexual abuse of children within the Catholic Church. He is seeking all records the Vatican has about abusive clergy.

FBI: $25K to find missing NW Wisconsin girl whose parents were killed

The FBI on Wednesday offered $25,000 for information that helps find Jayme Closs, the 13-year-old Barron, Wis., girl whose parents were found shot to death in their home last week.
