Almost nine in 10 taxis and private hire vehicles in Lancashire cannot be used by people in wheelchairs, figures reveal.
View email online | | | | | Sep 3, 2021 | | | | | | Good evening Covid figures across the UK are said to be flattening out - but are still stubbornly high. The most worrying issues here are that we are still experiencing weather warm enough for us to spend time outside where Covid is less likely to spread, plus the schools are only just returning in England. The onset of autumn and winter are very likely to see cases surge again as people spend more time indoors and we already know that young people, the vast majority of whom are not inoculated, are more likely to catch the virus than older adults now. Boris Johnson appears to be about to extend the powers given at the start of the pandemic - just in case the numbers start to rocket in the next few months. A new poll carried out for a national newspaper reveals that half of Brits think the Government will impose another lockdown before the end of the year. That would be unlikely unless our hospitals start to buckle under the strain of yet another wave of serious cases. For all of our sakes, let’s hope that doesn’t happen.
