We know you care about the future of small family farmers, farmers markets, and the good food movement. That future depends on all kids having exposure to fresh fruits and vegetables, and feeling that the farmers market is a place of food access, belonging, and joy for them.
- 2,300 SFUSD elementary school students and 375 adults accessed fresh food and experienced the joy of the farmers market through Foodwise Kids field trips, hands-on cooking classes, and virtual classes.
- 111 SFUSD high school students participated in our Foodwise Teens food justice, job training, and youth development program, while getting paid for their work. As a result, 10 of those students have been hired as employees by farmers, food businesses, and Foodwise at our farmers markets!
- 30 SFUSD students’ families participated in free virtual and in-person Foodwise Family Cook Nights, where kids and adults built their skills and cooked healthy meals together using fresh farmers market produce.
- Two essential Foodwise education staff members were hired to teach these programs, and we were able to pay stipends to education interns for much-needed program support.
