BY DOUG GRAHAM | Staff writer Good morning, Acadiana Business newsletter readers. Creole trail rides, with deep ties to land and long-standing traditions of horsemanship, are a celebration and continuation of Louisiana's Black cowboy culture. Filmmaker Drake LeBlanc, who grew up in Lafayette, wants to tell the stories of this unique and little-known culture through his documentary short film, "Footwork." "I made it a priority to document, because this culture hasn't been documented much in general, and after the pandemic happened I got scared it wouldn't make a strong return," LeBlanc says. "Footwork" will have its world premiere Aug. 3 at the Blackstar Film Festival in Philadelphia. It will be LeBlanc's first film debut outside of limited showings in Louisiana.
