No images? Click here Hi supporter, I recently spoke with Jennie, who stayed at one of our accommodation centres while her husband John received treatment for blood cancer. Jennie told me: "Without Fight Cancer Foundation I would not have been able to stay close to John, close to the hospital where he needed me. And without me by his side, John may not have survived." To think that together, we had such an impact on John and Jennie, is so humbling. Thank you for making that possible. Scroll down to read more of their story, to find out how a virtual meat pie can help kids with cancer and to meet one of our incredible educators keeping kids with cancer engaged with their education. Kind regards, Eric Wright John and Jennie's Story When John was diagnosed with blood cancer, life changed forever for him and his family. Not only was John now fighting for his life, he and his wife Jennie had to move away from their family, friends and business for John to access treatment. They spent more than 100 days staying at one of our accommodation centres. Jennie told us “those 100 days were the toughest of my life, but without Fight Cancer Foundation’s accommodation, they would have been impossible.” Virtual Meat Pie for Good! With so many disruptions to the 2020 footy season, many of us are missing live footy and sharing a meat pie with our mates at a game – enter the Footy Colours Day Virtual Meat Pie! Add a little sauce to your mate’s day and let them know you’re thinking of them these footy finals by sending a virtual meat pie their way. Best of all, when you send a virtual meat pie, a donation is made to help kids with cancer. SEND A MEAT PIE TO A MATE!Educator SpotlightKeeping kids with cancer engaged with their education during their treatment and recovery is no small feat, especially when their treatment can make them feel so unwell. Luckily, our education support programs are staffed with some incredible and supportive educators, like Trisha.Trisha began working as a fulltime educator at the Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick in September 2015. “My favourite part of this job is the connection with patients and their families," Trisha told us.
