Dear friend, This week, as we all lit our Chanukah candles, Feed Israel lit sparks of joy and hope in the hearts of our precious, elderly holocaust survivors in Israel. Volunteers put together a special and meaningful Chanukah party at the Feed Israel Day Center for the Elderly, in Pardes Katz, Tel Aviv. Our dedicated volunteers who work at the center throughout the year, provide for the emotional, physical and spiritual needs of these survivors. This week our volunteers went the extra mile and prepared an extravagant party with enriching activities, delicious food and drinks and most importantly, a feeling of camaraderie and community. The elderly and holocaust survivors also benefited from a 'Health and Fitness workshop' which they enjoyed immensely. Esther, a Holocaust survivor who attended the party, excitedly told the volunteers, "The very fact that I'm leaving the house is a great achievement for me. I want to thank the special donors, thanks to whom we have food and joy in life." How much longer do we have our precious survivors? It's thanks to Feed Israel that they can experience another truly festive Chanukah this year. Roni, a volunteer at the club commented: "I come to the club on a daily basis and every time I see the happy faces of the survivors, it moves me to tears." Watch here as a party attendee describes her feelings after the party. She says: "You came today to make us happy. They say on Chanukah great miracles happen. Today you created a great miracle for us, the elderly and lonely. You have made us truly happy! Thank you so so much! From Sarah Ganz" |
