Happy Valentine's Day! In the spirit of Valentine's day, I'd like to start this month's newsletter off by saying thank you to all of my clients and readers of this newsletter - I love my clients and followers! This month I'm looking forward to the Women of Legal Technology Summit, held each year on the day before the ABA TECHSHOW in Chicago (this year it will be on February 26, 2020), at which time we will announce the additions to our Women of Legal Tech list and spend the day learning about changes women are making in legal technology. I'm also excited to see what's new at ABA TECHSHOW. Then, at the beginning of March, I'll be doing the keynote presentation at the Monroe County (NY) Bar Association Solo and Small Firm Conference on Juggling Marketing and Practicing Law: Tools and Tips to Help You Strike a Balance, as well as a breakout session on LinkedIn. I'm also excited about the feedback Dennis Kennedy and I are receiving about Make LinkedIn Work for You - see below for more info on that. As always, I'm looking for your feedback. | Recent Podcast Appearances | | | | I have had the pleasure of appearing on two different podcasts recently, with two different people in the legal tech world whom I greatly admire. First, I appeared on the Clienting Podcast with Gyi Tsakalakis to talk about the ABA Legal Technology Resource Center's legal tech survey and Legal Tech Survey Report, as well as my ABA TechReport on Websites and Marketing for 2019. | Recent Columns | | | | Dennis Kennedy and I wrote a two part article for the Michigan Bar Journal on Making Better Use of LinkedIn, and Part 1 appears in their February issue - you can get it here. The January/February issue of Law Practice magazine is the TECHSHOW issue, and my column talks about taking a digital detox - do you need one? You can access the complete January/February issue here. The November/December issue of the magazine was our Leadership issue, and my column discussed Five Ways to Develop Law Firm Leaders. A column in the magazine, Combating Scope Creep with Alternative Fee Arrangements discussed the often-encountered issues with defining scope when using alternative fee arrangements. It is also the basis of an upcoming CLE presentation I'll be doing for the ABA Law Practice Division (see below). |

| NOW AVAILABLE: Make LinkedIn Work for You | | | | My friend and colleague, Dennis Kennedy and I are proud to announce that our book, Make LinkedIn Work for You, A Practical Handbook for Lawyers and Other Legal Professionals is now available. The book is an adaptation of all of our previous work on LinkedIn, from webinars and presentations to articles and books. This book is different from what we've done before in that we're publishing direct to Kindle first, and the book contains no screenshots. We plan to follow the book with an online course to help lawyers and other legal professionals really dig into LinkedIn and maximize their use of the platform.
