Note from the editor

The utility sector in 2019 is in the midst of profound disruption. Renewables are competitive with fossil fuels. DERs are upending the economics of the grid. Federal and state energy policies across the U.S. are in flux.

How are your peers in the power sector responding? Join our free webinar this afternoon on Utility Dive’s annual industry survey to find out.

Now in its 6th year, the 2019 State of the Electric Utility Survey questioned more than 500 utility employees from the U.S. and Canada about market trends and regulation. The survey reveals that despite rising uncertainty, utilities are still committed to moving toward a cleaner and more distributed power system.

I will discuss the findings with former FERC Commissioner Nora Brownell and energy consultant Alison Silverstein during a webinar at 2 p.m. EST. Registrants to the webinar will receive a free advance copy of the State of the Electric Utility Survey Report, which will be officially released Thursday.

If you cannot join us this afternoon, the webinar will be recorded and subsequently made available for download. Hope to hear from you during the broadcast.
