Better late than never? A former Times-Picayune reporter found a curious envelope in his mail last week -- the documents he had sought from the federal government under a Freedom of Information Act request 12 years ago. Right, 12! "The Freedom of Information Act is broken," an attorney says.
Replaced: A day after being arrested for suspicion of driving drunk, New Orleans City Council member Jared Brossett was a no-show this morning at a meeting of a council committee he chairs. He'll be replaced as committee chair, the council says.
Burning question: Investigators were still trying to determine what sparked the weekend fire that consumed a century-old wharf in New Orleans, a massive blaze that lit up the sky. Ramon Antonio Vargas has the latest.
Test run? When the Krewe of BOO! parade hits the streets Saturday there might be a little more riding on it than in the average year. Giving thanks: Speaking of parades, look for a Louisiana entry in New York City’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. It’ll be . . . wait for it . . . an alligator. A 60-footer dubbed the "Celebration Gator." First time we’ve had a float in the iconic holiday parade, by the way.
Congrats: Some news about us: Judi Terzotis, publisher of The Times-Picayune and The Advocate, has been named publisher of the year by Editor and Publisher, the news industry's leading trade publication. Congrats Judi!
