Build a team in a tier of its own
I am currently going through a slow draft, and I was faced with a dilemma in my most recent pick. Heading into my fifth pick, I had three hitters and just one starting pitcher, and I wanted to take another. However, I found myself faced with a dilemma: Billy Hamilton was still on the board, the last of the elite stolen base guys. On the pitching side, however, I was staring at a handful of ultimately very similar options. This is why you need to draft with tiers. I knew Billy Hamilton was irreplaceable at this spot in the draft, while there is no huge difference if I take Dallas Keuchel or wait on Masahiro Tanaka. Establishing tiers allows you to know when you need to move on a position, and when you can wait. Here are the second round of positional tiers from Scott White to get you through your draft.

It's like first base, but the top tier options run out a lot quicker. Where does that tier end?
Deeper than it used to be... Deeper than catcher... Still not that deep.
There's a lot of youth here, a lot of homers, and a lot of steals. You also need a lot of them. It's not as deep as it seems.
There's the Big Four, and then there's everyone else. Can you survive without one of them?
The elite closers are harder to come by this year than ever before, especially when we're still this far from Opening Day.
