Having a hard time getting your kids off their cellphones? Why not move to Vermont? The state legislature is posed to debate a new bill that would ban cellphone use for people under the age of 21. This bill, introduced by Sen. John Rodgers, is two pages long and uses statistics on cyberbullying and texting-while-driving to hammer home the dangers posed by cellphones. It calls for a maximum punishment of one year in prison and a $1,000 fine for violators. As draconian as this may sound, the senator admits the whole thing is nothing more than a stunt. When asked, he says he “wouldn’t probably vote for it himself.” Democracy in action!

Maybe instead of banning phones, the government should focus on banning robocalls.
