Face coverings to be required in S.C. public schools

The S.C. Department of Education is purchasing masks for every teacher, bus driver, custodian and food service worker, according to a news release. Masks will be made readily available on school buses, the department said.

Richland County seeking input for annual action plan

An online meeting Aug. 13 will give the public a chance to provide input about how a pair of federal funding sources will be used in county activities and projects to address needs of low- to moderate-income residents.

N.J. man sentenced to 92 months in Holly Hill arson

Marvin Leroy Smith-Capers, 38, will serve the sentence in federal prison after pleading guilty to setting fire to three downtown businesses. He was tracked to the arson scene through an ankle monitor.

Federal grant to help teach residents about birds and bees

The Urban Agriculture Conservation grant will help maintain a pollinator conservation initiative at Pinewood Lake Park in Richland County. A video series featuring virtual garden tours begins Wednesday.
