Three things today: An American Airlines plane collided with a U.S. Army helicopter Wednesday evening as the plane was preparing to land at Reagan National Airport outside of Washington, D.C. All passengers and crew members are believed to be dead, and the cause of the crash is unclear. President Trump called it âan hour of anguishâ for the nation and appointed Christopher Rocheleau acting commissioner of the Federal Aviation Administration, which will investigate the crash. Senator John Curtis introduced a new bill Thursday to protect American companies from intellectual theft from China. ââUnder the Combatting Chinaâs Pilfering of Intellectual Property Act, Chinese organizations would face heavy sanctions for engaging in intellectual theft of American companies. Sen. Curtis said, âUtah is a major hub of entrepreneurship and innovation, and too many of our businesses have seen their intellectual property stolen by Chinese entities.â The Legislative Audit Subcommittee will meet at 4:00 p.m. to present the performance audits of the position and office of the attorney general and of the Piute and Wayne County election processes.
