Nicola Sturgeon’s decision to bring the Scottish Greens into government has strengthened the SNP’s calls for a second independence referendum according to more than half of Scots, our exclusive poll has found. It comes as support for independence among Scots stays broadly static compared to in May. The poll, undertaken by Savanta ComRes for The Scotsman, interviewed 1,016 Scottish adults aged 16 and above between September 3 and 9, 2021. The full results of which can be read here. This morning the First Minister has come under fire after comedian Janey Godley, who is fronting the Scottish Government’s Covid-19 health campaign, was axed over “unacceptable tweets”. Ms Godley was paid a reported £12,000 for her TV adverts, which were running online under the hashtag #Stopthespike amid rising coronavirus rates. The comic made offensive remarks about black American celebrities including Destiny’s Child’s Kelly Rowland, and rappers 50 Cent and Snoop Dogg. Keep scrolling for more stories. | |
