Good afternoon,

We have finally escaped what felt like an interminable January and I even spotted the sun this morning. Hopefully it's a sign of brighter news on the horizon.
But we are still in a difficult place and as February starts we have shared what is a very sharp dose of reality from the Royal Preston Hospital's Intensive Care ward.
Or as one very senior doctor told us: "This is very real and you could lose your whole family."
If you read just one story today - make it this one.
Meanwhile, Lancashire Police say three of their officers were attacked while attending more than 500 lockdown breaches over the weekend - their busiest weekend yet.
And one Preston gym owner refuses to close, even after police visited for the 11th time. Our reporter went to see him  just as police attended - watch the video.
Meanwhile, huge queues wound around Blackburn Cathedral's mass vaccination centre yesterday, sparking a warning about social distancing from health chiefs.
Have a safe and productive Monday,
Kind regards, Nicola
