| Birthday celebrations for Deutsche Börse and ETF news from Florida
The top story this week is Jan Wagner’s interview with Stephan Kraus, head of ETFs at the Exchange. This coming April, German stock exchange operator Deutsche Börse will celebrate the 20th anniversary of its ETF business. Back in April 2000, Deutsche Börse was the first European exchange to list ETFs – in that case a fund that tracked the EuroStoxx 50 and one that tracked the Stoxx 50 Europe. As Wagner reports, nearly 20 years and two market crashes later, there are 1,507 ETFs listed on Deutsche Börse’s Xetra platform – worthy.
The week in the ETF world was dominated by the InsideETFs conference in Florida with a number of firms taking the opportunity to display their wares within the ETF space. We have an interview with SEI’s John Alshefski, Senior Vice President and Managing Director and Head of SEI’s Traditional business within the Investment Manager Services division, and his colleague Rob Owens explaining how the firm is extending its USD75 billion Advisors’ Inner Circle (AIC) platform to incorporate ETFs within its turnkey series trust operational infrastructure.
We also have the seventh annual ETF survey from BBH which finds ETFs increasingly at the centre of investor portfolios; news from Qontigo, part of Deutsche Börse Group, which has launched the STOXX Factor Index suite. More news comes from Old Mission, which has announced it is to enter into offering institutional ETF services and news of an update of its offering from ETFLogic. Finally, DWS issued a short note announcing that its emerging market ETF has gone over EUR3 billion in assets.
