Celebrating democracy

This week we bring you a short outing for our popular podcast series, Off the Record, with Timo Pfeiffer of German-headquartered index provider Solactive, talking about the firm’s commitment to reducing costs of investment for investors. Pfeiffer notes that Solactive disrupted the index industry with its transparent pricing. Listen here.

We also spoke with Pacific Asset Management’s Sebastian Stewart this week about the UK-headquartered specialist asset management firm’s launch of its first actively managed ETF on the Nasdaq, focused on the emerging markets, using UK-based sub-advisers, North of South Capital. The firm chose to launch its offering in the ETF wrapper because of the accessibility and transparency of the structure, Stewart says, saying: "Having a 40 Act fund in the US was the way to go and we grappled between the mutual fund and the ETF route and ultimately decided that the active ETF would be the best route for us because it is extremely accessible to investors."

We launched the nominations for service providers stage of the ETF Express Canadian awards this week as well. Nominate now for your favourite ETF service providers operating in the Canadian market. Full details on our methodologies are here, and to nominate, follow this link.

I am very happy to report that I have been busy working with IMPower’s Fund Forum event in Monte Carlo again this year and I have put together and will be chairing a few of the ETF panels. I can offer readers a 10% discount using this code: FKN3972SPK, and this link.
