The elephant in the room – the Indian growth story

Our podcast and video this week brings you Kevin T Carter of EMQQ Global who launched the INQQ ETF in 2022 into a tricky market but tells us the compelling story that lies behind India’s growth, with the country predicted to become the world’s fastest growing economy. Listen and watch here.

Our interview this week is with Mirian Breen and Lorraine Sereyjol-Garros of BNP Paribas Asset Management on the firm’s ambitions in Europe. Their distribution model traditionally had been largely focused on the institutional client segment, including asset managers, but Sereyjol-Garros notes that the rise of neo-brokers and robo-advisers in Europe is having its impact on how the firm distributes, particularly in Germany, France and Italy.

You will hear more on that subject in one of my panels at this year’s IMPower Fund Forum in June. For a 10 per cent discount to attend, use this link and code: FKN3972ETFX. I hope to see you there.

We are all familiar with the extraordinary rise in the gold price this year on the back of market volatility, but the World Gold Council has published its report noting that gold ETFs have fuelled a ‘more than doubling’ in gold demand to 552t, a 170 per cent year-on-year increase and the highest since Q1 2022.

Continuing in our series on new ETF markets, we have an In My Opinion piece on ETFs in South Africa from Ben Meyer, Managing Director at Prescient Capital Markets who explains regulatory change in the country which is supporting ETF growth. South Africa is also benefiting from the rise of the neo-broker – this phenomenon is challenging existing wealth management models globally.

Finally, sing out for DRW – we are running our interviews from the special report for the ETF Express European awards on the home page and this week, we celebrate DRW.
