| | | | | TOURISM AUSTRALIA UPDATE | The tourism industry has had another tough week with interstate travel restrictions tightening and ongoing uncertainty around when the industry will see some return to normality. As frustrating as this is, we are also getting encouraging feedback about significant levels of pent up demand for domestic holidays – and a desire to have different types of holidays. So, while we continue to face some challenges, we can be confident, that when people are able to travel freely again, they will. Tourism Australia is continuing to develop its domestic campaign plans, more details of which we will be sharing this Friday 31 July at 11am in our next webinar. The webinar will include a consumer insights update from our Executive General Manager of Strategy & Research, Rob Dougan, and a marketing update from our Chief Marketing Officer, Susan Coghill. We will also be joined by Australia’s Tourism Minister, Simon Birmingham, who will give an update on Australia’s ongoing response to coronavirus. Register here. Also a reminder that over the past few weeks, Tourism Australia’s international teams have hosted a series of virtual market specific updates and you can watch recordings here. | | TasTalk… the movie | In lieu of Tourism Tasmania’s annual TasTalk trade event, Tourism Tasmania have created a movie. As they were unable to host the trade event in its usual format this year, they worked with 49 tourism operators and the Australian Tourism Export Council (ATEC) to create the feature length movie. Whilst intended for the travel trade, many operators are also using it as a tool to show their customers too. Tourism Tasmania hosted an industry ‘exclusive premiere’ showing at Wrest Point in Hobart on 22 July. Since the launch last Thursday, there have been over 2,900 views of the movie. In advance of last week’s live viewing, 300 registered Tassie Specialists from Tourism Tasmania’s online program and ATEC Member Buyers were sent a bottle of Josef Chromy Pinot Noir and some Tasmanian-made caramel-chocolate popcorn to enjoy whilst watching the movie. Watch the movie here. |
