Tick-tock… With just three weeks to go before the SEPA Instant Credit Transfer (SCT Inst) scheme becomes operational, a large part of this Rep(l)ay issue is focused on instant payments. We have taken a look at how two European pioneers in instant payments, i.e. the UK and Denmark, successfully implemented national solutions, and what are the takeaways of these initiatives for European payment service providers preparing for SCT Inst.

585 PSPs, from eight SEPA countries (Austria, Estonia, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Spain) will propose SEPA Instant Credit Transfer services from 21 November onwards. They represent fifteen percent of European PSPs, which is a very encouraging sign considering that they had only one year to get ready. More PSPs are expected to join the scheme in 2018.
