Saint or sinner? Wronged princess or ‘Bloody Mary’? Get to know Mary Tudor, one of England’s most notorious queens with an interactive journey through Hampton Court Palace this February half-term. On this family-friendly adventure, you’ll be introduced to a lady-in-waiting, a cardinal, a fool and a future queen - all with something to say about Mary. Make up your own mind about her five-year-long reign and decide who you trust the most.
Then, explore the iconic palace and gardens on a voyage through Tudor England. Join historic cooks in Henry VIII’s Kitchens and experience the role of the tournebroche, roasting the meat on the metal spit, before trying your luck in the world-famous maze. And that’s all before you might (or might not) get to meet some unexpected friends in the Haunted Gallery.
And if you need somewhere for the little ones to let off steam, head to the children’s playground in the Magic Garden - they’ll have a right royal laugh in there (with no need for threats of beheadings).
From 12 - 20 February, visitors will be able to do all of this for the price of a regular admission ticket. And, if you end up feeling as attached to the palace as Henry did, you can become a member and revisit all year round. |
