From an early age, her fascination with drawing led her down an unwavering artistic path. During her teenage years, her determination did not wane. At the age of 17 she was apprenticed to the Venezuelan painter Freddy Brandt and at the age of 23 she decided to pursue her artistic training in Italy, where she studied academic drawing at the Angel Academy of Art and later graduated as an academic painter in 2008, obtaining two scholarship sat the Florence Academy of Art. Throughout her career, Emilia has imparted her knowledge as a painting instructor in Venezuela and Chicago, and is also the director of an influential art academy called Atelier del Sol in Costa Rica from 2012 to the present. Today, Emilia displays her talent as a full-time artist and teacher. Her paintings, rooted to an academic base of drawing, are characterized by rebellious palettes, bold color contrasts and the technique of the chiaroscuro. Her work moves in a fantasy universe that explores beings from both the stars and the mysteries of the sea. The predominant colors in her creations are pink, black, orange, violet and turquoise, which infuse life and emotion to her compositions. Emilia's artistic presence extends internationally, with works present in multiple countries, such as Venezuela, Poland, Portugal, Italy, the United States, Australia, Colombia and, of course, in Costa Rica, where she has established her home since 2012.
