Good afternoon, have you opened your advent calendar yet? Lancashire's Firefighters had a busy start to December, battling a huge blaze at the derelict former Baffitos restaurant at Preston's docklands. Eight fire crews were at the scene overnight and this a developing story so please keep up to date via lep.co.uk Meanwhile, as we approach the end of lockdown and a move into Tier 3 restrictions, it remains unclear if we will will be getting community testing - just yet - as the boss admits it's unlikely to be logistically possible. Students at the University of Central Lancashire were yesterday queuing for rapid testing as a new centre opened there and a new semi-permanent site is also opening in Chorley. It comes with news of more tragedy and we have reported a touching tribute to a much-loved bus driver, who also died after contracting Covid-19. In South Ribble, there has been a huge shake-up of parking charges and are we winning the war on Lancashire's potholes? See our traffic and travel section. So it looks like a busy day here in the newsroom. Don't forget we run a number of Facebook groups including Traffic & Travel and Crime and Court news if you like to access your news there. But also remember the majority of stories we do are not 'bad' news but shared from our community. We also like to celebrate the beauty of Lancashire. So here is a collection of snaps, featuring on this occasion, the lovely Cuerden Valley Park in pictures. Don't forget if you are thinking of subscribing now is the time as our Black Friday offer is still live with a 30 per cent discount. As always, thanks for your support and keep safe. Kind regards, Nicola |
