The home of good gifting on Brighton Beach.
Edwin Lock We continue to receive new pieces for our WOOD exhibition here at ABtS, and this week saw the arrival of some superb furniture pieces by Edwin Lock. Hand crafted in his central Brighton studio, Edwin's furniture is both sparing and refined. Made from the finest hand-selected timbers and designed to be both beautiful and functional, this furniture will bring you pleasure for a lifetime. It's just part of our current exhibition WOOD! featuring furniture, wood cuts, hand-turned toy trees, chopping boards, jewellery and all sorts of beautiful wooden objects. Open this weekend and running until 10th November. |

Oh so espresso We are delighted to have added these very cool espresso cups to our already very cool selection of ceramics by Emma Johnson. Emma graduated from the University of Brighton in 2016, and has since established a successful studio pottery focussing on slipcast porcelain. Her functional homewares are often based on architecture, incorporating precise, angular forms and a 'buildability' that makes for a striking tablescape. See our full selection here. |

Jonathan Gibbs We are thrilled to have wood engravings by Jonathan Gibbs in our WOOD exhibition. Widely published in books and magazines, Gibbs makes his own boxwood and holly blocks into which images are engraved before being printed onto Japanese paper by hand-burnishing with a bone spoon. The results are a delight. Come and see them for yourself in the gallery. We are open 11am-5pm, seven days a week. |

Large Scale Gestural Drawing - Rhythm and Repetition with Katie Sollohub There are just two places left on our Large Scale Gestural Drawing - Rhythm and Repetition course with Katie Sollohub on the 20th & 21st November. Embrace the elements, move your body and make large scale gestural drawings inspired by the energy of this place. Come and immerse yourself in the experience, whether taking a walk by the water’s edge or sheltering in the studio, and translate those invigorating sensations into marks on the page. Make small field drawings and observations of the natural rhythms and patterns of sea, sky and shore, as well as more abstract responses to sound and movement. Then return to the beach front studio to work on large-scale 4ft x 8ft drawings over the two days. It's always an invigorating and immersive creative experience! Book your place now. |
