The LSU football team has to be a humbled group of Tigers. Kentucky thumped LSU in every facet of the game Saturday night in Lexington, earning a decisive 42-21 win to improve to 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the SEC. There was no doubt as to who was the better team. It was plainly obvious from the outset that Kentucky was the superior squad. Ed Orgeron’s position as LSU head coach is in peril and it remains to be seen how much patience athletic director Scott Woodward will have with the Louisiana native. Orgeron built plenty of credibility with a national title in 2019, but the Tigers have been an underwhelming 8-8 ever since. There were signs of progress for LSU (3-3, 1-2) coming off the 38-27 loss to UCLA in the opener, but the late collapse against Auburn a week ago and Saturday’s thorough beating at Kentucky are clear signs that this team is headed in the wrong direction. While there was progress made in LSU's rushing attack, the final score was not a clear indication of how lopsided of a defeat it truly was for the Tigers. Many fans will turn their focus entirely to Orgeron’s future, not so much to the remaining six games on the schedule.
