CLP

Workshop on the hazard classes for PBT/vPvB and PMT/vPvM properties

Join our online workshop on 6 May 2025, from 10:00 to 16:00 Helsinki time, where we will discuss the guidance for the new hazard classes of the Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) Regulation, specifically:

  • Persistent, Bioaccumulative and Toxic (PBT) properties/very Persistent, very Bioaccumulative (vPvB); and
  • Persistent, Mobile and Toxic (PMT)/very Persistent, very Mobile (vPvM) properties.

You will have the opportunity to share your thoughts and ask questions on these new hazard classes, as well as learn more about the CLP guidance development process.

The event is free of charge, but you need to register by 25 April 2025 to receive the Webex link to join and the full agenda.

New intentions and proposals to harmonise classification and labelling

Two intentions have been submitted for:

  • cis-tricos-9-ene (provisional chemical name) (EC 248-505-7, CAS 27519-02-4); and
  • peanut butter (provisional chemical name) (EC -, CAS -).

Two proposals have been submitted for:

  • 1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl peroxyneodecanoate (EC 257-077-0, CAS 51240-95-0); and
  • D-tagatose; (3S,4S,5R)-1,3,4,5,6-pentahydroxyhexan-2-one (EC 201-772-3, CAS 87-81-0).

Biocides

Get ready to submit more biocides data in IUCLID

From 1 July 2026, all applications for biocidal active substance renewals must be submitted in IUCLID format. This includes data from the initial active substance approval.

By structuring biocidal data in IUCLID format, we aim to:

  • make information more accessible for chemical risk assessment and support the ‘one substance one assessment’ approach;
  • ensure each active substance and product-type has a single, well-organised application, where key study summaries and results are easily found;
  • improve data analysis and support the shift towards alternative testing methods;
  • streamline the approval process and speed up ongoing assessments under the Review Programme; and
  • enhance the automatic generation of reports.

For an introduction to IUCLID for biocides, join our Biocides Stakeholders' Workshop on 29-30 April 2025 in Helsinki or online.

ECHA

ECHA CHEM resumes full operations

ECHA CHEM has now resumed normal operations and is again serving users with up-to-date information from REACH registrations submitted to ECHA.

Around 300 registration dossiers remain unavailable due to a technical issue. These will be restored in the coming months.

We continue to develop ECHA CHEM further with several updates throughout the year. These will bring additional data and improvements for users.

Assessment of regulatory needs reports published

Reports for the following substance groups are now available on our website:

  • Simple ureas;
  • Triphenyl and tetraphenyl phosphonium salts;
  • Glucamides;
  • Phenyl-terminated non-linear alcohols and their aliphatic esters;
  • Cerium and its compounds;
  • Branched and cyclic aliphatic hydroxy amines (other than isopropanolamines); and
  • Amine-terminated or (amine and hydroxy)-terminated aliphatic ethers.

If you have questions or feedback related to the assessment work, you can send them to us using this webform.
