Highlights from November RAC and SEAC meetings

The Committees for Risk Assessment (RAC) and for Socio-Economic Analysis (SEAC) reached provisional conclusions on the proposed restriction of PFAS in three sectors.

The committees also announced more sectors they will evaluate in the upcoming meetings. In March, they are expected to discuss applications of fluorinated gases, transport and energy for the first time.

CLP

CLP revision defines new role for distributors in poison centre notifications

The recently revised Classification, Labelling, and Packaging (CLP) Regulation clarifies the responsibilities of duty holders related to notifications of hazardous mixtures to poison centres.

One of the main changes in the context of poison centre notifications (Article 45) is that distributors – companies that relabel, rebrand or retail hazardous mixtures – are now duty holders and may need to submit information on hazardous mixtures to poison centres. 

Consultation on harmonised classification and labelling

We are looking for comments on the harmonised classification and labelling (CLH) proposal for:

• [4-[p,p'-bis(dimethylamino)benzhydrylidene]cyclohexa-2,5-dien-1-ylidene]dimethylammonium m-[[p-anilinophenyl]azo]benzenesulphonate (EC 265-449-9, CAS 65113-55-5).

Occupational exposure limits

We are looking for comments on the scientific report for occupational exposure limits on Ethylene dibromide (EDB) or 1,2-Dibromoethane. Have your say until 13 February 2025.

The deadline is approaching for comments on the scientific report on 1,3-Propanesultone. You have until 17 December 2024 to submit your comments.

EU Observatory for Nanomaterials (EUON)

New report evaluates performance of EUON

The second external evaluation report on the performance of the EUON has been published.

The report analyses how well the Observatory meets its objectives, how effectively it communicates information to the public and how useful this information is to stakeholders. It also identifies key challenges and areas for potential improvement.
